Iowa Safe Schools - Upcoming Event

Protecting Kids Stopping Bullies is Iowa Safe Schools' celebration of the state's anti-bullying law. Following five years of intense lobbying, advocacy, and education across the state - Iowa Safe Schools was successful in leading the passage of the state's Safe Schools Law in 2007. This law requires Iowa's public and privately accredited schools to have a policy in place that protects students based on 17 categories, and requires schools to report their number of bullying incidents to the Iowa Department of Education. This law helped open the doors for anti-bullying work across the state.

The 2011 Honoree is Congressman Leonard Boswell. Congressman Boswell has been a fierce advocate for Iowa youth and has been a vocal supporter of Iowa Safe Schools since the organization's inception in 2002. The 2010 Honorees were State Senator Mike Connolly, Alicia Claypool, and the late-State Representative Roger Wendt.

This year's event will include heavy hor d'oerves, wine, and a dueling pianos show. Tables and Host levels are available for purchase. You can make payment online, send a check in advance, or bring payment that night. Checks must be made out to Iowa Safe Schools. All donations are tax-deductible.

Proceeds benefit Iowa Safe Schools' anti-bullying programming which includes training for Iowa parents, educators, and youth-serving professionals; and youth mentoring programming
