One in five high school students report experience being bullied. That number is even higher for students who identify or are perceived as being Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, or Queer (LGBTQ). According to the Centers for Disease, this can be alleviated by creating positive school climates and administrators that support anti-bullying efforts in their schools.

Iowa Safe Schools believes that every student has the right to feel safe, engaged, and welcome in their school and classrooms. We also know that bullying can prevent that. Iowa Safe Schools’ LGBTQ Youth Advocate is here to help answer any questions you might have about bullying as well as help you (or your student/child) if you have been bullied. We provide a range of services that are tailored to each individual who requests our help.

Iowa Safe Schools also provides a free resource library for students of all ages and their parents/guardians.
