Becky Tayler (She/Her/Hers) is the Executive Director of Iowa Safe Schools. After receiving both her bachelor’s and master’s degree in social work, she has spent most of her career in direct service of LGBTQ youth across Iowa. Becky has leveraged her background in diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts as well as grassroots organizing to lead Iowa Safe Schools.
Becky – widely respected in the advocacy community through her role as the Director of Youth Engagement at Iowa Safe Schools, stepped into the role of executive director in 2020. Through organizational restructuring, fostering new partnerships, and supporting the work of the Iowa Safe Schools’ team, Becky has become a leader in the LGBTQ advocacy movement in Iowa. She was also named the 2022 Pride Person of the Year by Capital City Pride. She is inspired by the incredible work being done by young people across the state. Becky is especially interested in helping students and young people use their voice to create positive change in their communities through youth activism and advocacy efforts. Becky continues to lead Iowa Safe Schools as the organizations fulfills its mission of creating a safer and more inclusive Iowa for LGBTQ youth.
When not connecting with community partners or supporting the work of the team at Iowa Safe Schools, you can find Becky searching for a hazelnut oat milk shaken espresso, liking cat photos on Instagram, or attending music festivals with her wife and close friends.
