Krista Giltner (She/Her) is the Youth Programs Development Intern at Iowa Safe Schools. She has had various different advocacy experiences–from organizing protests to canvassing communities for LGBTQ+ supporting legislators. This summer, Krista will be working on continually developing supportive and inclusive programs for youth all across Iowa.
Based in central Iowa, Krista is an upcoming senior in high school, where she is actively involved in marching band, theater, Mock Trial, GSA, and State Large Group Speech. Throughout her high school career, she has worked to make her community a more inclusive place. She has spoken at a workshop on consent culture during The Governor’s Conference on LGBTQ Youth, attended the ACLU’s National Advocacy Institute, and corresponded with politicians and business owners to learn how to advocate for herself and her community.
In her spare time, she enjoys baking, watching Suits, cuddling with her cats and dog, and exploring all that Des Moines has to offer with her friends. You can find her at the movie theaters, Smokey Row/any cute coffee shop, Raygun, or all three depending on the day.
Reach out to Krista for questions about: Youth Programming, GSA Con, opportunities for LGBTQ+ Youth.
