2026 Student Summer Internship

Iowa Safe Schools is bringing back a paid Summer 2026 internship for juniors and seniors in high school through college students (ages 16–22) who want to make a difference in their communities. This program is designed for students interested in advocacy, communications, nonprofit work, design, education, and social change. 

• 10-week summer program (early June to early August - some flexibility offered for your school schedule!)
• Paid opportunity - $15/hr (paid as stipends)
• Part-time hours (~12-24/wk)
• Remote, hybrid, or in-person format available

Build Real World Skills

You’ll work on real projects that support LGBTQ students across Iowa and gain hands-on experience with the work of a statewide nonprofit.

You'll collaborate with staff to choose projects that align with your interests, skills, and career goals.

As an intern, you can expect:

• Weekly mentorship with a staff supervisor
• Self-paced online learning modules focused on social impact and nonprofit work
• Hands-on projects that directly support real Iowa Safe Schools programs
